Just in time for the new football season, I wanted to share a new app I’ve been working on recently, called Live TV Football.
Last season I found it quite difficult to keep track of all the live football on TV, so first and foremost this app was going to be useful to me and I thought it could help other football fans too. With Amazon entering the fray, there is more football then ever across even more channels as well.
Built using the fantastic Glide, which allows you to turn a Google Sheet into a beautiful, easy to use app. I recommend checking it out.
For my app, I knew searching by channel would be important as some of my friends I asked (like me) only subscribed to BT Sport and others occasionally bought Sky Sports day passes to watch a few of the games on specific days. Football fans are extremely loyal to the team they follow so I wanted to add in the ability to search by team but also to favourite their club’s matches across all channels. For this I needed users to log in to be able to store their personalised list.
On the app’s home screen I decided to highlight key matches of the month, and as with all fixtures allows you to drill down into each individual matches for further details such as kick-off times and channel. I thought adding last season’s result between the two teams was a nice interesting touch to add to this page.
These are the things I plan to implement shortly:
Notifications that alert you of your favourites
Fixtures by month
Fixtures by team
Submit to App Stores
Somehow get an automated feed of matches (at the moment I’m adding manually)
More leagues from around the world on UK television
Let me know in the comments below if you’ve foudn it useful or if you have any ideas for future features.
